1. Introduction


1.1 Introduction

Nilgiri DikuMUD is a real-time, text-based, multi-user role-playing game (similar to the dice game Dungeon and Dragons) that is played over the internet via telnet connections to the MUD server. You can start playing right now by using your favorite telnet application to connect to the the machine nilgiri.mythril.com on port 8888. If you web browser has a telnet application already associated in your preferences, click here to launch the connection. You can also connect to the game via your web browser of choice through a Java applet at http://nilgiri.mythril.com (link opens into new browser window).

This document describes how to create areas on Nilgiri DikuMUD using the online area creation commands.

The goal of this primer is to be a clearing house for all information relative to successful area creation on Nilgiri DikuMUD. The scope of this primer will range from the technical reference of command syntax to other more intangible things that are still very important to good area creation such as consistant style and thorough game balance. This primer will always be a work in progress and readers are encourged to provide feedback to help improve the primer.
